Yesterday, we returned from Reno, Nevada after an informative and engaging 4 days at the Angus Convention. In past years, we have attended the National Angus tour, but this year we passed on that and chose to fly in a day early, rent a car, and drive to Lake Tahoe for a self tour.

Just west of south Lake Tahoe, we hiked around Taylor creek to see the Salmon spawning as well as fresh evidence of Beaver in the area. It was such a beautiful area, we would like to return when we have more time.

Next the
Angus Convention.
The general session speakers were as engaging as always, Terry Jones founder of travelocity had a great message.
For us, the most memorable was pastor Jesse Elizondo who lead the non-denominational church service on Sunday morning. His message about responsibility really resonated. Although, the trade show was not as big as in past years, it was still interesting to see the new products and visit with the vendors in attendance. I always enjoy the Angus University sessions. There is always something to take away from the content presented, and, as a convention should, it makes us excited to go home and implement the new ideas.

We stayed at the Peppermill Resort and Casino in Reno (pictured above).

The business meeting included lots of discussion among the members and delegates concerning transparency(definitely the buzz word for this convention).  Overall, the trip was enjoyable and worthwhile, keeping us current with American Angus Association policies and issues.
